The Pchum Ben festival lasts for 15 days (3 of which are public holidays) in October, and involves offering food to monks and ancestors, and donating money to the local temples.
In November things kick up a notch with the Water Festival, this includes boat races across the country as well as outdoor concerts.
Khmer New Year sees everyone going back to their home town to lay offerings at pagodas and give presents. There are firework displays across cities as well as traditional games. Also expect children to throw water bombs at you in the street.
