Money and Costs
Indonesia is generally one of the cheapest countries in Southeast Asia and you will find that your money goes further here than in many places.
from $21 per day for solo travelers and $30 for couples.
The currency in Indonesian is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) with both coins and notes available, the largest of which (the IDR 100,000 note) is worth about US$7.
ATMs and credit cards
ATMs are plentiful, except in really remote areas like islands but transactions are expensive and will take a fee depending on the bank.
Credit cards are accepted in tourist areas and larger shops but usually charge at least a 2% fee so this is not always the most cost effective way of paying.
