The official language of Japan is Japanese.
Although this is an extremely modern country, English is not as widely spoken as you may think so communication can be an issue.
Buddhism and Shinto (the ethnic folk religion of Japan) are almost equally practiced here. About 2% of the population are Christian.
Hanami is the Cherry Blossom Festival and happens between March and May every year. As the cherry blossom blooms, tea ceremonies are held as are parades, outdoor festivals, and family picnics and parties.
Golden Week is one of the busiest times in Japan as four festivals happen at the same time and most people take an extended holiday. These include Showa Day in April, followed by Constitution Memorial Day, Greenery Day, and Children’s Day in May.
