Boracay is now one of the most popular destinations in the Philippines and this is completely justified, as it is simply stunning. If you make the trip over here you will find island living complete with beautiful beaches, and there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied as well as some exciting nightlife spots. Depending on your budget there are a number of resorts that have been built in recent years, and it is fair to say that Boracay is much more crowded than it used to be. Still, it’s a solid spot and an easy place to come to if you enjoy sun and sand.
The island’s main attraction is White Beach, a once pristine, large white sandy beach that is now lined to capacity with resorts, bars, and shops. However, the beach is still beautiful and if you are willing to explore further then there are undeveloped parts of this island that make it a well rounded option for any traveler. White Beach is a great place if you enjoy a solid nightlife and active beach life, as you will have an inexhaustible assortment of eateries and shopping with a backdrop of sailboats and kite surfers dotting the horizon.
Aside from White Beach, there are a few other options to choose from such as Ilig Iligan Beach, which is a relaxing escape from some of the busier parts of the island. If you like local water sports such as kitesurfing, then Bulabog Beach is also a solid choice, and both of these have more of a local flavor than some of the areas closer to the luxury resorts.
It’s fair to say that in recent years Boracay has suffered somewhat from overdevelopment, but despite this it is still a picturesque place that is worth experiencing. One of the best things about Boracay is that it offers a mix of island life while still having a lot of activities and nightlife that will keep you entertained. Therefore we recommend it mostly for families deciding to stay here for a longer time or backpackers who like to party the night away.

If you arrive at Caticlan airport, there will be a lot of companies offering you to take you all the way to your accommodation for a certain (high) price. If you want to save money, just walk to the port (10 minutes) or take a tricycle, buy your own ferry ticket and get your own tricycle when you’ve arrived on Boracay island, straight to where you need to be!
As Boracay is an island without an airport, you need to fly to one of the nearest airports respectively being Caticlan or Kalibo airport. From there you need to get to the Caticlan port to take the ferry to Boracay island. If you’ve arrived at Kalibo airport, it will take about 1.5 hours per bus to get to the Caticlan port. However when you arrive at Caticlan airport, you’re pretty much a 10 minute walk away from the Caticlan port making it much more convenient and faster to get to Boracay island.
When you’re exploring White Beach, totally on the right there is a nice little walk that takes you around a rock formation. If you follow the path and walk all the way straight you’ll cross another small beach and find a really nice place called the Spider Bar. It is a bit more expensive, but you’ve got very decent food here and a wonderful view, especially during the sunset making it so worth it.
