Tom Yum Goong
Tom Yum Soup is one of the best known exports from Thailand. The soup base is made from herbal lemongrass, potent chilies, limes leaves, and fish sauce, with a few other things thrown into the mix. Depending on who is making it, mushroom and shrimps are usually added.
This Green Papaya Salad comes from the north of Thailand from Isaan. Chilies, beans, cherry tomatoes, and shredded unripe papaya are pounded together in a pestle and mortar with fish sauce and dried shrimps or salted crabs. It is known for its sharp, spicy, slightly sweet, and salty flavors all at the same time.
One of the most well known dishes outside of Thailand, this Thai Fried Noodle dish is famous for a reason. Noodles are fried in a wok with beansprouts, egg, fish sauce, sugar, and onions. The exact recipe often depends on who is making it but usually includes other ingredients like shrimps or ground peanuts.
