Money and Costs
The biggest problem you will have in Vietnam with money is people trying to part you from yours, and this is particularly true of tour agencies who are fiercely competitive and will tell complete lies in order to gain business.
It is standard practice in Vietnam for foreigners to be charged more than locals, and this can range from a bar of chocolate in a shop to the price of a bus ticket.
from $35 per day for solo travelers and $50 for couples.
Vietnam’s currency is called the Vietnamese dong (VND).
Dong will be expected in more remote areas although larger cities will accept US dollars.
ATMs and credit cards
International ATMs are plentiful around tourist areas across the country.
Credit cards are accepted in cities although not usually in smaller, family run businesses like cafes or restaurants so carry some cash just in case.
